Genomics, AI, and the Future of Health: Data Visitation to Empower the Global South
Bharat Mandapam, Room 15, New Delhi, India
Session registration is separate from summit registration.
Please ensure you have registered for the full India AI Impact Summit to attend.
Session info:
AI and genomics are transforming public health, but the benefits remain unevenly distributed. Data sovereignty requirements and cross-border restrictions prevent genomic datasets from being used collectively for research. This slows progress and reinforces global health inequities.
Data visitation flips the model: instead of centralizing sensitive data, the algorithms travel securely to where the data is held. Countries and institutions stay in control. New research happens.
Join OpenMined and the Human Genome Project II (HGP2) to discuss data visitation in genomics and health. You’ll see early previews of BioVault, a production-ready data visitation platform, and hear from researchers running real-world cross-border genomic analyses in Jordan and the Caribbean. The session will highlight practical implementation, emerging governance models, and pathways for equitable, AI-enabled health systems, with a focus on empowering the Global South through public-sector innovation.
