OpenMined is participating in the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, in partnership with the Human Genome Project II (HGP2). Together, we’re demonstrating how privacy-preserving infrastructure can enable countries to participate in global AI-driven genomics research on their own terms, without centralising sensitive health data.
We’re hosting three events across the Summit week.
Summit Session: Genomics, AI, and the Future of Health: Data Visitation to Empower the Global South
- Monday 16 February, 2:30–3:25 PM IST
- Bharat Mandapam, Room 15, New Delhi
AI and genomics are transforming public health, but the benefits remain unevenly distributed. Data sovereignty requirements, ethical obligations, and cross-border restrictions prevent genomic datasets from being used collectively for research and AI development.
Data visitation flips the model: instead of centralising sensitive data, algorithms travel securely to data held within national or institutional boundaries. This session demonstrates data visitation works in practice through BioVault, with examples drawn from real-world AI-enabled health system implementation
From Framework to Implementation: A Policy Meeting on Data Visitation for Genomics and Health
- Tuesday 17 February, 10:30 AM–12:30 PM IST
- India International Centre, New Delhi
Building on the outcomes of the Summit session, this closed working session brings together policymakers, researchers, and technologists to refine a Data Visitation Implementation Framework, aiming to move from shared understanding to shared decisions on policy, governance, and operational pathways. The outcomes of this discussion will directly inform subsequent pilot activities.
The discussion will focus on translating policy principles into clear governance and implementation parameters, including sovereignty, consent, auditability, and access control, with particular attention to alignment with national law, public health missions, and public trust considerations.
This session is by invitation only.
OpenMined Community Meetup
- Tuesday 17 February, 1:30–5:00 PM IST
- India International Centre, New Delhi
An informal community gathering on the sidelines of the Summit. Whether you’re attending the Summit or not, come hang out with the OpenMined community. We’ll present our latest work, demo some of the tech, and talk about what’s next for privacy-preserving AI in health and beyond.
Open to anyone interested in privacy, AI, open source, or just curious about what we’re building.
