OpenMined selected as one of 50 innovative AI Projects for the AI Action Summit

OpenMined & AI Action Summit 2025

We are proud to announce that OpenMined’s work with the Christchurch Call Initiative on Algorithmic Outcomes (CCIAO) has been selected as one of 50 innovative projects to be showcased at the AI Action Summit in Paris on February 10-11, 2025. Our project, “A Technical Solution for Algo-Transparency,” was chosen from an impressive pool of 770 submissions from 111 countries, highlighting the global significance of our work in algorithmic transparency and online safety.

Our Project’s Impact

OpenMined’s selection recognizes our groundbreaking work in developing and deploying the first algorithmic transparency system of its kind across multiple social media platforms. This initiative is part of the Christchurch Call Initiative on Algorithmic Outcomes that addresses crucial challenges in understanding and mitigating algorithmic radicalization online.

Our project stands at the intersection of technology and social responsibility, demonstrating how open-source infrastructure can be leveraged to create safer online spaces while maintaining privacy and data security. The successful deployment of our system, supported by multiple governments, marks a significant milestone in the global effort to combat terrorist and violent extremist content (TVEC) online.

Looking Forward

As we prepare to participate in the AI Action Summit in Paris, we’re excited about the opportunity to scale our project into a global information network. This expansion aligns perfectly with OpenMined’s mission to create the public network for non-public information.

Our community of over 17,000 technologists, researchers, and industry professionals continues to work on Syft, the public network for non-public information. The recognition from the Paris Peace Forum validates our approach and will help accelerate our efforts to create more transparent, accountable, and safe AI systems.

About the AI Action Summit

At the initiative of President Macron, France offered to host the AI Action Summit in Paris, continuing and building on the momentum generated by the United Kingdom and the Republic of Korea, which organized the previous two Summits. India will co-chair this Summit.

This international Summit will bring together almost 100 countries and over a thousand private sector and civil society representatives from across the world, invited on an inclusive basis in recognition of their commitment and desire to contribute actively to ensuring that AI development and deployment benefit society, the economy, and the environment while upholding the common good.

We look forward to collaborating with other selected projects and stakeholders at the summit to advance the responsible development and deployment of AI systems worldwide. This recognition reinforces our commitment to building technical solutions that promote transparency, safety, and trust in our digital future.
